Rabari women dress in skirts,
blouses and odhanis. They spin their own woollen thread, but the cloth
is woven by Harijan weavers and dyed by Khatris. The skirts of unmarried
girls may be made of cotton and are fastened with a draw storing, but
married women wear tube skirts which are pleated at the front and tucked
in at the waist. A dark colour is required. Tie-dying is sometimes used
to create a pattern of red dots on a black background, but plain fabric
made from a dark shade of natural wool is also acceptable. |
