This fair is held at Bhuj on Shitala Saptami that is Janmashtami-on the birthday of Lord Krishna. In Bhuj it is held near Hamirsar lake and the Kalyaneshwar temple. It is also held in Mandvi and other places on Chaitra Vad 13 which is organised by Saraswat Samaj. During the time of the princely regime, a royal procession was taken out on this day, which also coincided with the birthday of Maharao Shri Vijayarajji, a former ruler of Kutch.
